Last year, we announced the four recipients of the 2024 Exceptional Facilitator Award: Dr. Danielle Carpentier, Dr. Savitoj Khehra, Dr. Pearl Langer, and Dr. Holly Slakov!
This month, we are featuring a spotlight on Dr. Slakov.
1. Please tell us about yourself and your practice
My husband and I have lived on Salt Spring Island for over 30 years and raised our three children here. Initially, I had a clinic, worked in the ER and hospital and helped women bring their babies into the world. However, this became too much, and now I just work in the ER.
2. Please tell us about your PBLP group
We are a fantastic group of seven family medicine physicians of all differing ages. Each brings a unique perspective, and yet all of us understand the challenges of rural medicine. Most of all, it is a fun group.
3. Please tell us what you enjoy about being a facilitator
Honestly, I feel I do very little other than organize the date & topic of our meetings and create a safe space for discussion. The enjoyment comes from all getting together, hearing each other’s concerns, and all striving to improve patient care.
