As Dr. Melissa Vyvey transitions to a new professional role, we want to recognize her significant contributions to the Foundation for Medical Practice Education.
Melissa joined the Small Group Learning Program in 2012 as a member and facilitator. Due to her strong interest in medical education, she was recruited as a facilitator trainer in 2016. Her progression to Assistant Director and subsequently Director of the Practice-Based Small-Group Learning Program occurred in 2020.
Throughout her tenure, Melissa’s energy, creativity, and commitment to family practice have left a lasting impact on FMPE.
Among her achievements:
- Dr. Vyvey streamlined and reorganized facilitator training to make it effective and easily accessible.
- She championed practice improvement activities (PIA) and was the guiding force behind the program development.
- She prioritized physician wellness and in collaboration with Dr. Jill Bailey, she helped introduce mindfulness training for our membership.
- She served as a leader in promoting Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility within the foundation.
- In addition to her work in developing and delivering the core program, Dr. Vyvey also served as a module author and editor.
- She and her team were successful in meeting the new accreditation standards of the CFPC.
We will miss Melissa’s enthusiasm and dedication to the program. We wish her the best as she takes on her next career challenge.
