Earn Mainpro+ Credits During Residency

Family Medicine residents can now earn Mainpro+ certified credits by completing eligible FMPE learning modules.

For each completed module topic, you can earn:

  • 4 Mainpro+ Certified Credits
  • 2 Mainpro+ Certified Assessment Credits

How to Earn Credits

Credits are based on individual reflection and can be earned in one of the following ways:

Option 1: Independent Learning

  • Review a module on your own or complete an Online Interactive Module.
  • Complete the Personal Practice Reflection Tool.

Option 2: Group Learning

  • Participate in a group discussion of a module.
  • Review the material independently afterward.
  • Complete the Personal Practice Reflection Tool.

Important: Follow-Up Reflection Required

Mainpro+ credits are not awarded after completing the initial reflection alone.

To receive credit, you must also complete the Personal Practice Reflection Tool (PRT) Follow-Up Reflection approximately 1 to 6 months later. This follow-up reflection provides an opportunity to consider how the learning has influenced your practice.

Credits are awarded only after the follow-up Personal PRT is completed.

Credit Deadlines and Carry Forward

  • The follow-up PRT must be completed by May of your graduation year to receive credits during residency.
  • Up to 40 Mainpro+ credits earned during residency can be carried forward to your first post-residency CFPC Mainpro+ cycle.
Please Note

Participation in a Residency Group Reflection session as part of your residency curriculum is valuable for learning but does not earn Mainpro+ credits on its own. Credits require completion of both the individual reflection and the follow-up PRT.

Residency Trainers & Facilitators

We are currently not accredited to provide credits to faculty members who facilitate in the Residency Practice-Based Learning Program (PBLP) at universities or sites as it is part of your program’s residency curriculum. However, you are eligible for certified assessment credits through the CFPC by completing a Linking Learning exercise.
