Residency PBLP Scholarship Award — Call for Submissions

The Residency PBLP Scholarship Award recognizes Family Medicine Residents for their contributions to small-group learning through research, quality improvement, and educational program development.

Projects that align with key goals—including embedding evidence-based educational principles, fostering peer collaboration, and encouraging reflective learning—are especially encouraged. Examples of past projects include leveraging social media to enhance learning, developing tools for practice-based learning, and implementing small-group learning approaches.

Award Details

The top project will receive a $500 cash prize, while the top three projects will earn a 1-year free membership to the Practice-Based Learning Program following graduation.

Eligibility & Judging Criteria

Applicants must be Family Medicine Residents currently enrolled in a Canadian Family Medicine Residency or Enhanced Skills training program. Projects will be evaluated based on:

  • Originality and innovation
  • Contribution to scholarship in small-group learning
  • Assessment methods and project impact

Recent winners include Dr. Melinda Caputo Janhager (University of Toronto), Dr. Clara MacDonald (University of British Columbia), and Dr. Karin Ishak (Memorial University), showcasing a range of innovative contributions to small-group learning.
