On May 30th, Dr. Dana McKay gave a well-received presentation at the PEI 9th Annual Family Medicine Conference in Charlottetown. The event welcomed ninety enthusiastic registrants, including family physicians and nurse practitioners from across the province. The day featured a wide array of engaging sessions, including talks on menopause, respiratory infections, intimate partner violence, atrial fibrillation, anticoagulation updates, and island liver care.
One of the highlights of the day was a keynote address by Dr. Gaynor Watson-Creed titled “Rethinking Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility in 2025,” which offered attendees a deep and inspiring perspective on these critical topics.
Dr. McKay’s session, Top 10 Practice Change Tips from Practice-Based Learning Program Modules 2023-2024, was met with great interest. Nearly half of the audience was already familiar with the program and its modules, and attendees were eager to access the QR codes provided during the session. There was lively discussion among participants, and feedback from audience members suggested that the content sparked meaningful conversations. Several attendees followed up afterward to inquire about joining the program, including one physician who was eager to restart a group at her new practice location and had questions about facilitator training.
Overall, the presentation sparked curiosity and connection, reaffirming the value of peer-supported professional development.
