FMPE Connects With the Community at FMF Winnipeg

The Family Medicine Forum (FMF) returned this year, hosted in Winnipeg, bringing Canada’s family medicine community together at the RBC Convention Centre from November 5 to 8. As always, FMF offered four packed days of education, connection, and inspiration—and for FMPE, it was an energizing opportunity to meet members, residents, and colleagues from across the country.

Although early impressions suggested attendance was lighter than in past years, the atmosphere remained warm, collegial, and deeply engaged. The FMPE booth saw steady traffic throughout the mornings and afternoons, giving the team ample time to have real conversations with visitors. “Even with fewer people walking through at lunch than we’re used to, the quality of the interactions was excellent,” one team member reflected. “People weren’t just browsing—they were eager to talk.”

The booth also saw strong interest from current FMPE members, especially those curious about Practice Improvement Assessment (PIA) credits. Staff enthusiastically walked visitors through the process, and many attendees were surprised—and pleased—to learn how the assessment option can support their ongoing CME.

Residents were a significant presence this year, and their enthusiasm was unmistakable. Many stopped by to explore FMPE’s tools, and to learn about exam-prep supports such as the mapping of modules to the top 105 CFPC exam topics. They also responded strongly to news of the upcoming credit option for residents completing modules individually, set to launch in July 2026. “Residents love our modules,” the team shared with a smile—and their steady stream of questions made that clear.

Meanwhile, our presenters of FMPE’s Top 10 Practice-Changing Tips From Practice-Based Learning Program Modules, Dr. Peter Tzakas, Dr. Haider Saeed, and Dr. Dana McKay, made time between their own commitments to drop in and chat with attendees, contributing to the sense of approachability and shared purpose that defines FMPE’s presence at FMF.

“It’s always worth being here,” one team member reflected. “Every conversation helps someone understand what FMPE can offer—or reminds them why they’ve been with us all along.”

As FMF looks ahead to Toronto in 2026, FMPE’s presence in Winnipeg served as a meaningful touchpoint—an opportunity to listen, share, and connect with the family doctors and residents who shape and rely on our program. And if the energy at the booth is any indication, the momentum heading into next year is already building.
